Pipe-handing is a very important operation in the drilling process. Based on the mechanical structures of pipe racking and transfer systems designed by our team, this thesis analysed the characteristics of the structures and selected hydraulic system as the power, and applied PLC and Profibus to the control system.Now there are lots of automation control systems and communication protocols in the industry control area. This thesis chose Siemens PLC and Profibus-DP after comparing the control functions of four systems and protocols. And designed the supervision and operation interface based on the communication technology, which can implemented centralized control and manage. In addition, this thesis recounted the expandability of Profibus network.First, this thesis introduced the mechanical structures and designed the hydraulic systems. Then it introduced the functions and the action requirements of every mechanism, and made the sequences of the operations.Then it configured the virtual hardwares of control system using Step7, chose the CPU315-2DP as the master and several ET200Ms as the slavers. And expounded the communication rules. The pipe handing system can work in four modes:manual, single-step, single-cycle and continuous to satisfy the different requirements of operation. In order to satisfy the requirements of speed and synchronization, this thesis designed a control program based on PID and fuzzy control technology.It designed respectively the human-machine interface of IPC and the operation interface of touch panel with WinCC6 and WinCC flexible softwares. This can help the operating personnels to make the correct decisions and can store the important working parameters in the IPC and provide an efficient way to backup critical data.Finally, researched the capability of anti-jamming of the control system, and presented several methods to improve it.
