The design and synthesis of metal-azide complexes is one of the most attractive field in the molecular-based magnetic materials. In order to investigate the correlation between the structure and magnetic properties, five complexes have been synthesized and characterized by element analyses, IR and variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility.A 2D copper(Ⅱ) coordination polymer [Cu2(anol)2(μ1,3-N3)2]n (where anol = 2-aminoethanol) have been synthesized by the reaction of Cu(ClO4)2·6H2O, NaN3 and 2-aminoethanol. In similar reaction condition, using Co(ClO4)2·6H2O instead of Cu(ClO4)2·6H2O, a dinuclear cobalt (Ⅲ) complex [Co2(anol)3(N3)3] was obtained. A novel trinuclear Cu(Ⅱ) complex [Cu3(sae)2(mtta)(N3)] (mtta = 5-methyltetrazole, sae = Salicylidene-2-aminoethanol) was prepared by reaction of NaN3, CH3CN, Salicylidene-2-aminoethanol and Cu(ClO4)2·6H2O. Two complexes with same formular and different space group have been synthesized by the reaction of [Mn3O4(phen)4(H2O)2](NO3)4 ? 2.5H2O with NaN3 in water.
