Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) is known as a material resistant to high temperature and inflaming .PPS is often regarded to be durable at high temperature and resistant against several chemicals. PTFE fiber is the only one better than it. PPS needle-punched nonmoven filters have wide application in coal-fired power plant,cement plants,steel works,incinerating plants in order to control dust. And PPS needle-punched nonmoven filters are exposed to acidic gases such as hydrochloride, SOx (SO2 and SO3) and NOx (NO and NO2), which could form a solution of HNO3, HCl and H2SO4 when the operational temperature is under the acid dew point. Therefore PPS needle-punched nonmoven filters will have chemical reaction with several kinds of acid at high temperature. PPS is acid resistant, but PPS needle-punched nonmoven filters don't have long useful time in practical application. After deep research, the reason why PPS needle-punched nonmoven filters don't have long useful time finally appears.This paper has a research on the performance of PPS fiber and PPS needle-punched nonmoven filters, the acid resistant performance and deep reason of that., there are many kinds of industrial waste gas in actual application, they all have a strong impact on PPS fiber. Therefore, it is significative to study the effect of mixtures of these acids. This paper aims at investigating the degradation of PPS non-woven fabrics in HNO3, H2SO4 and HCl. In addition, this paper also studies the interaction among these three acids by measuring the retention of strength in binary or tertiary mixtures of these three acids. A discussion has been made on the acceleration/retardation of PPS degradation by the interactive effects, and also on the chemistry related to the degradation by these acids.In consequence of the oxidative resistance of PPS non-woven fabrics, The Finishing is a good choice to make PPS non-woven fabrics better, This paper has a research on the retention of strength, ventilation property of PPS non-woven fabrics after finishing ventilation property.This paper makes exploratory study of the acid resistant performance of PPS non-woven fabrics. It will contribute to promote the performance of PPS non-woven fabrics, develop new product of PPS non-woven fabrics. It also will be beneficial to study other kinds of non-woven bag filters.
