Core-shell nanocomposite material-based Surface-enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) matrix has been a topic of significant interest in recognition and detection of biomolecular (DNA, protein), rapid diagnosis of diseases and biomedical imaging reseach. This dissertation describes the research on core-shell nanocomposite-based SERS matrix, reported a new type of multi-core/shell naoncomposite-based SERS matrix that could be detected in aqueous solution. This nanoparticle was composite of gold nanorod core encapsulated with multi layers, including a thin porous SiO2 layer inner and Au layer outer, which could significantly enhance Raman signals through the plasmon resonance of gold nanorod and its Au layer. The SERS matrix we prepared not only exhibited strong surface enhanced Raman scattering signal upon contacting with the common Raman active molecules, but also possessed the high hydrophilicity and stability, which has the potential of biological detection.
