Recently, researchers have shown great interest in studying gold nanorods (GNRs) due totheir localised surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) and surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS) of this material. In particularly, the noble metal nanorods have great advantage inimmunoassay. Hence, it is essential to deeply study the complicated structure of GNRs, as wellas their bioapplication. In our study, the gold/inorganic core/shell nanorods were synthesized, characterized andcarried out in immunoassay research. It is found that composite structure nanorods display moresuperior properties in detection range, application condition and sensitivity than singlecomponent nanorods. And this thesis is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter, there is a short discussionof classification, definition and development progress of the core-shell gold nanorods. Then, thecurrent study of gold/inorganic core/shell nanorods are discussed in detail. Finally, our researchtopic and main research contents are given. In the second chapter, the GNRs and Au/Agcore/shell nanorods are prepared. And the properties of the LSPR and SERS) of the Au/Agcore/shell nanorods with different thickness of Ag shell, are theoretically and experimentalresearched. In the third chapter, based on the immunoassay of the Au/Ag NRs, we present adetailed study on the purification, stability, and surface modification of Au/Ag NRs in abiological buffer solution. And the optimizing condition was also obtained. Moreover,4-mercaptobenzoic acid (4MBA) was used as a Raman reporter molecule to investigate the SERScharacteristics of Au/Ag NRs. In the fourth chapter, a novel kind of core/shell nanorods,Au2S/Au core/shell nanorods are fabiricated by mixing Na2S2O3and GNRs, which havedifferent mechanism with the synthesis of Au/Ag core/shell nanorods. To improve the stabilityand biocompatibility of the Au2S/Au core/shell nanorods, MUA and PSS were coated onto theirsurface. And the Au2S/Au core/shell nanorods are prepared as a probe, and then carried out thePSA immunoassay, which show high specificity and sensitivity. In the fifth chapter, theconclusions and potentially developments of the work are given. In one word, we systematacially and detailly discuss the synthesis and characteristics of Core/Shell Gold Nanorods and their relative bioapplication. And this work will offer the certainmeaning for the exploration and commercialization.
