Environmental thinking is the important perspectives and views of matters about humans on the natural environment and relationship between the environment and human and other issues. Different environmental thinking will lead people to adopt a different method in dealing with the natural environment. In modern society, the deteriorating ecological environment is closely related to environmental idea of modern people. The realities request us to have a deep reflection for the modern way of thinking and their approach to the environment. In-depth excavation and interpretation of environmental thinking of Marx and Engels, for modern people to reflect on their environmental outlook, thus changing their way of dealing with the environment has important theoretical significance and practical value.Marx and Engels'thought is very rich. In this paper, based on the brief inspection of ancient environmental thinking and thinking of modern industrial civilization, a more comprehensive outline of the ideas of Marx and Engels'basic contents of the environmental thinking are involved, including: the natural environment is a prerequisite for human survival and development of material; practice is the material transformation process between a human and natural environment; the capitalist mode of production is the root cause of environmental problems in modern society; communism is the basic road to solve modern environmental problems, and so on.Explaining and demonstrating the environmental ideas of Marx and Engels is of great significance, which helps us to build a scientific concept of environment, and thus beyond the mechanical theory of environmental thought; helps us to change the old concept of environmental values in order, and to establish sustainable survival mode; helps us to earnestly implement the scientific concept of development and to provided an important world outlook and methodology guide to build a resource-saving and environment-friendly and harmonious society.
