China is a big country of coal mining and using, and the Surface subsidence caused by coal mining will have damages to buildings, arable land and vegetation. Therefore, it is important to forecast these possible damages and take some prevention measures. In the other hand, when mining under surface water body, buildings and railways, subsidence forecasting can provide some guidance for coal mining design. With the development of computer technology and graphics in the recent years, people pay more and more attention to the visual forecasting system and these systems have solved many projects. Based on analysis of theory and methods of subsidence forecasting, this paper develops the MSPV system for subsidence forecasting by using visual basic 6.0. The system can work on subsidence data, forecast mining subsidence and make visual pictures. This paper can be divided into several parts, such as data process, subsidence forecasting and contour maps and 3D maps making. This paper describes the basic principle and the methods of the system in detailed. The model used in this system is called probability integration method, which can be used in horizontal and gently inclined coal seams. We must take the effects of surface characteristics and slipland into consideration because of the down slope when mining on the mountain. The system gets parameters by a window, and grids the data itself. Then the parameters and the gridding data are sent to forecast the subsidence. Then the picture drawing system can process the data and give out contour maps or 3D maps. In the end of the paper, we check the accuracy of the system by a project and have achieved good results.
