With the rapid development of our national economy, more and more natural resources are needed, especially the coal resource. After the useful minerals are taken out, the original stress balance around the mining region are damaged, which cause stress redistribution, and seek a new balance. Make the rock and surface generate deformation and non-continuous destruction, this known as the Mining Subsidence. With the exploitation, settlement will produce on the ground, more serious, it will endanger people's lives and property.Rock deformation and surface subsidence caused by underground coal mining has become a very serious issue of the underground works. To achieve the mine's safety and rational exploitation, it is necessary to study the laws of ground subsidence caused by underground coal mining. On the basis of the analysis of the theory of mining subsidence and the typical projects, this paper using Bianbang exploitation area in Shanxi Pingshuo as an example, by collect the related geological and geographical information in study area(include order the CAD map, extraction the surface elevation and surface topography test), establish the study area's calculation model. On this basis, determining the calculation parameters, and then using interface method to simulate the excavation. By calculation, the following conclusions are obtained:(1) Obtain the value of horizontal displacement, the feature of stress distribution and the value of surface subsidence after the exploitation of the 9003~9007 face of Bianbang mining area;(2) According to mining sequence and the degree of surface subsidence damage, divide the range of surface influence after the mining;(3) Comparing the actual settlement and the simulation results, verify the feasibility and accuracy of using the method of interface to calculate the surface subsidence.
