The thermal behavior of rollers is one of the main interferences in rolling process, especially for the thermal expansion, the thermal camber and their change process of rolling. Thermal behavior has has an important influence on roll shape and roll gap, so studying the behavior of roller is a important problem which is needed to be solved.In this paper, a numerical analysis, finite element analysis, experimental analysis and simulation is made for temperature field and thermal behavior of rollers. Firstly, the basic knowledge of thermal analysis is introduced, and the mathematical model of temperature field and boundary conditions of rollers are elaborated, in addition, a detailed modeling and analysis are made on the heat sources and outputs of rollers; secondly, the finite element method is used to make a numerical analysis for temperature field of rollers, using ANSYS software to make a solution to the temperature field and thermal deformation of rollers,and a law of temperature variation is abtained.; then, a simulation experiment for cold-rolled strip steel is done in the 300 rolling mill, temperature of the roll is measured by ThermaCAMTM E45 , and measure the the temperature distribution curve of roll surface along the roll axis, also make a comparison of finite element analysis and experimental results, in the purpose of verify the results of finite element simulation.The paper is based on the environment of the ANSYS finite element software, through APDL parameter language, a simple and flexible simulation analysis methods of roll temperature field is gived, the analysis program of roll temperature field programmed by APDL solves the problem of periodic and dynamic load in the temperature field of roller,shortening the operation cycle. The experimental testing and validation result show that the two fit better, providing a basis for thermal expansion calculation of roll and compensation control of roll gap control.
