Neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) has excellent mechanical and optical properties, which is applied in shine and laser media. Compared with the same chemical composition, transparent neodymium doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) ceramic has the advantages such as easy fabrication, low cost, large size, highly doped concentration, conveniently realizing the multi-layer and multi-functional ceramic structure, suitable mass production, and is becoming a new generation of laser materials to substitute the single crystal. Therefore Nd:YAG ceramic have become the research hotspot of material media in recent years.In this article, using Y(NO3)3 and Al(NO3)3 as raw materials, Nd:YAG nano-sized powders is synthesized using chemistry co-precipitation method, the precursors and powders calcined are characterized via XRD,3D laser scanning microscope,TG-DTA, the influence of the concentration of mixed solution,the reaction temperature,and the velocity of titration on the purity of YAG during the co-precipitation is studied. On optimal experiment condition of the preparation of the pure YAG, the Nd:YAG nano-sized powders is prepared and mixing solution is confected according to the ration of Nd3xY3-3XAl5O12. Nd:YAG nano-sized powders are calcined, ball milled, tabletted, it will be sintered after the preparation of biscuit in vacuum conditions, Nd:YAG transparent ceramic is synthesized, the disciplinarian of influence of sinter temperature and the time of thermal insulation on its microstructure,the rate of optical transmittance and microhardness is studied.The synthesizing of Nd:YAG powder indicates:mixed solution,the reaction temperature,and the velocity of titration influences the creation of YAG phase, the receiving powders in Al3+ density is 0.2 mol/L, reaction temperature is 30℃, rate of titration is 4 ml/min can be converted to the pure YAG phase after being calcined for 2 hours at 1000℃. On the synthesizing conditions of the Nd:YAG powder, the Nd:YAG powder is done adulterating 2at%Nd, The SEM of powders via 3D laser scanning microscope indicates:Nd:YAG powder is well-crystallized with an average size of 25nm.The study of Nd:YAG ceramic sinter indicates:the increasing variation of the density and hardness with the increase of the rising if the sintering temperature, and the abnormal growing of the grain appear. The optimal sinter process of synthesizing of the Nd:YAG transparent ceramic:the sinter temperature of 1750℃, heat insulation time of 12 hours, relative density of the ceramic can reach 99.82%, which transmittance over wavelength region 1100nm is 66.3%. |
