Low energy-consumption blankholding is a new variable blankholding force controlling method of low energy-consumption. Designing a double-acting hydraulic press with low energy-consumption blankholding system and providing a method as assistance for production design and performance prediction is one of the indispensable stages for industrial applications of this system.A new double-acting hydraulic press with low energy-consumption blankholding system is designed on the base of the traditional double-acting hydraulic press. In order to analyses the whole working process of the hydraulic press, the components parameters are determined, the conditions of pipeline cavity and load of work piece are considered and the simulation model of the system under load is established. In modeling the system, important components, including pump, cartridge valve unit, electro-hydraulic servo valve, load force and control logic etc used in the system, are analyzed and modeled on the platform of MATLAB/Simulink, a simulation software, to ensure the correctness and authenticity of the model and simulation results.Using the models, the working process of the press is simulated; the simulation curves of main parameters in the hydraulic system are obtained. Analysis and evaluation on the simulation result- show that the model reflects the main feature of this hydraulic working process. The research works in this paper provide a necessary method and technical supports for the technical design, performance prediction and on-site system debugging of the press and system.
