The proposed method has the advantages, such as short extraction time, simple operation and use of green solvent, and is a suitable method to extract the chemical constituents from spices. The essential oil from Citrus reticulata Blanco and Zingiber Officinale Rosc by using ILMAE was compared with conventional hydrodistillation (HD) and microwave-assisted hydrodistillation (MAHD). Ionic liquid has no reaction with the Components of essential oil, which is a good kind of microwave absorption medium. Meanwhile, there is no preparation of dried samples and no stir in the extraction after the liquid oil was added. ILMAE is much more convenient than traditional methods.Ionic liquid as microwave absorption medium, which insteads of conventional organic solvents and solid microwave absorption medium, such as carbonyl iron powders (CIP) and graphite, ionic liquid non-polarity solevent microwave extraction (ILNPSME) has been established. ILNPSME has been compared with tradional HD and MAHD for the extracion oil from dried Illicium verum Hook. f. and Syzygium aromaticum (L.) Merr. Et Perry. There was no obvious difference in the constituents of essential oils obtained by the three kinds of extraction methods and ILNPSME has the advantages, such as short extraction time, simple operation and use of green solvent, and is a suitable method to extract the chemical constituents from plant meterials.
