To target a triple-cathode plasma surface alloying technology in a real industrialization application issue, trial validated guarantee and well basic investigation should be provided. The key component in the triple-cathode system is the orificizating cathode (P cathode) which fundamental characteristic are the most important for its applications. Therefore, a validated trial platform of P cathode characteristic in triple-cathode system needs to be established rationally, from which the characteristic experiments of the P cathode and the pointedly design could be carried out.In this paper, the significance, purpose and main content of this paper are definitely given. A survey of plasma surface alloying technologies, relevant researches and development at home and abroad are introduced, discussed and analyzed. The characteristic of plasma surface alloying technology and application of current situation and future in industrial fields are recapitulated and discussed. Hollow cathode and fundamental characteristic of its plasma plume are expounded and analyzed. Working principle, device, basic characteristic of triple-cathode plasma surface alloying processing and structure features of triple-cathode, working model are elaborated.Based on the results of our existing research and analysis, a basic definition of the surface alloying is given by summarizations and conclusions of surface alloying characteristic. Methods and classifications of surface alloying are discussed and analyzed, and prerequisites of a perfect processing of surface alloying are summarized.The results of experiments for triple-cathode plasma surface alloying are further expounded and analyzed. The primary parts which are analyzed and discussed contains: characteristic and analysis of constituents of triple-cathode plasma surface alloying layers, forming processes of alloying layers, speed of alloying, thickness of alloying and disposable multielement jointly alloying.Proving experiments of P cathode characteristic in the triple-cathode system are programmed and designed with great emphasis, and parameters, technique requirements and steps used in the experiments are confirmed.According to the observed records and the analysis of trial data of P cathode proving experiments, the experimental results are analyzed by dint of data processing function of Origin software. The analyzing results show that a plume appearance can, at certain conditions, be seen during processes, and this kind of appearance is accompanied by stable parameter platform. As a result, the optimal matching technique parameters of surface alloying are concluded and provided.
