Organobentonite is a kind of hydrophobic bentonite which prepared by exchanging inorganic cations in the layer of bentonite with organic cations or compounds.lt combines inorganic bentonite's excellent dilatability, adsorption and dispersion with huge hydrophobic area, so it has very good affinity for organic substance,which has been widely used in all kinds of field.such as water pollution control,dope,petroleum industry etc.The bentonite mine is Na-bentonite in Xinjiang, the content of the bentonite is 75%-80%. Using hydroclone to purify the bentonite and using sedimentation technics to test bentonite in the paper, Experiment results indicate the best conditions of the purification is:the concentration of the solution is 4%,the pressure ofΦ75 hydroclone is 0.20MPa, the pressure ofΦ50 hydroclone is 0.30MPa, the pressure ofΦ25 hydroclone is 0.40MPa.The content of purified bentonite is more than 95%.Using 1831 to be organic modifier, make sure the best technic condition by changing the conditions of experiment(such as the quantity of organic modification,the tempereture of the reaction,time of the reaction,pH of the reaction,concentration of the solution, agitation speed), characterize the organobentonite by testing the value of viscosity, analyzing the structure characteristic of organobentonite by using XRD and IR. Experiment results indicate the best technic conditions to prepare 1831-bentonite are:the quantity of organic modification is 40%, the tempereture of the reaction is 70℃,the time of the reaction is 4h, the pH range of the reaction is from 7 to 8, the concentration of the solution is 6%, the agitation speed is 400 r/min. The viscosity of 1831-bentonite is 3910 mPa-s.Testing the capability of the dope after using organobentonite, and observe the change of the dope. The experiment indicate that appending organobentonite into the dope can advance the viscosity of the dope, it is confirmed that 1831-organobentonite is the best additive.
