| The successful application of SEAM technique enriched the technical types in the field of special processing. It provides a practical technical means with highly efficient for processing hard electric materials. However, due to the lack of its processing mechanism and technology, SEAM technique has not yet been widely applied, especially blocked in the field of finish machining. This paper conducted an in-depth research on the basic law by short arc machine, looking forward to resolving some of problems in the SEAM.In this paper ,a thorough study of the principle of SEAM was made, and the conclusions were proved by the experimental method. the main content as follow:1, through special processing technology, research to find several short arc process can be reference for similar special processing technology and research methods. Finally the conclusion can be reference for the research method in edm processing mechanism of short arc.2, theoretically that short arc discharge passage was formed in a plasma channel, and then channel with temperature increasing Numbers of ions in the cross-sectional area of the passage by studying theory of short arc discharge. Short of arc discharge passage for large cross-section of single channel discharge.3,To verify the short arc discharge passage for large cross-section of single channel by using high-speeded camera through experiments, using the theory of discharge is analyzing the phenomenen of the process of arc short.4,Research to study microcrack of short arc surface through test, analyzing reasons of cracks of short arc surface and puts forward the method of reducing microscopic cracks.
