Caofeidian Industrial Zone is a large port, large iron and steel base and large chemical industry base in the future. It is one of the key areas of new economic and industrial development of Tangshan and Hebei province. As the complex geological environment in the region, the evaluation of environmental quality is important.Through the detailed engineering survey and geological investigation, a large number of engineering geology environmental data about Caofeidian Industrial Zone was collected. Three-dimensional geological model of Caofeidian Industrial Zone is established by GOCAD software to reflect the distribution of various strata within the study area, especially the distribution of soil liquefaction and the thickness of soft soil. Three-dimensional model can increase the understanding of engineering geological conditions and provide the basis for environmental quality evaluation for engineering geology and engineering construction to avoid geological disasters in the region.The geological environment information database of Caofeidian Industrial Zone is established based on GIS. Then from three aspects including the regional crustal stability, surface stability, and foundation stability, the engineering geological stability of Caofeidian Industrial Zone is evaluated and the corresponding maps is generated.Evaluation results show that the stable region in the study area are mainly in the east and accounting for about 32.3%. The unstable region and sub-unstable region account for 9% and 30.9% respectively. The sub-relatively stable areas accountes for 22.1%.Through the combination of GOCAD and GIS, the engineering geological environment of Caofeidian Industrial Zone is evaluated, and then the sequence of land use and development based on the evaluation results is proposed. In domestic, the application of combination of GOCAD and GIS is still relatively rare in the assessment of engineering geological environment quality.
