Rosin surfactant is a new type in surfactants'family. It has traditional chemical-based surfactants'nice-feature, and also has innocuity, no irritation and rapid biodegradation merit. Therefore it is increasingly favored by many research institutions, and it is widely used in detergent, cosmetic, pesticide, printing and dyeing, paint, biochemistry and other fields.In this paper, at first recent research advances on rosin surfactants were summarized detailedly. Using rosin and maleic anhydride through addition reaction to synthesiz the maleic rosin anhydride. Maleic rosin-octylphenol polyoxyethylene ether diester carboxylic acid was synthesized from maleic rosin anhydride and octyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether through esterify reaction. Surfactant of maleic rosin octyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether diester carboxylate sodium was synthesized from maleic rosin-octyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether diester carhoxylic acid and NaOH through neutralization reaction. Built heavy oil contamination metal detergent, circulating water channel inhibitor by using surfactant of maleic rosin octyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether diester carboxylate sodium with other surfactants. This paper improved chinese high-level development and utilization of rosin, and make a certain position to rosin surfactant's performance. There are some guidance for its application in industry. The experiment obtains the following conclusion.The color of maleic rosin octyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether diester carboxylate sodium is sensitive to effects of reaction temperature and reaction time. When the reaction temperature was between 90℃-100℃, time controled in about 2 hours, the products'colour was good, and have excellent water solubility.To compound surfactant of maleic rosin octyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether diester carboxylate sodium with other surfactants, the following conclusions are obtained:As heavy oil contamination metal detergent, the system has excellent wetting action and emulsification, with good detergency, rust-protection, corrosion inhibition, environmental protection, and without residue; Rosin sodium succinate as inhibitor, the surfactant is suitable to use in high hardness, low alkalinity, neutral pH circulating cooling water. The inhibition rate is more than 83.40%. It has the important significance to the application of rosin surfactants in industry.
