Study On Groundwater Pollution And Its Control Strategies In Baotou City

Groundwater is an important component of water resources and the main city and industrial-agricultural water source. However, there are varying degrees of urban groundwater pollution. This paper is study of groundwater in the Baotou City. Base on available data, combined the hydrogeology and environmental science, according to the theory and method of hydrochemistry, environmental geochemistry, environmental quality and pollution assessment, analysis on pollution characteristics and main pollution sources of groundwater in four district of Baotou; we carry out groundwater environmental quality assessment and pollution trend analysis, meanwhile we propose pollution control measures according to the main pollution factors. It can provide reference for groundwater source protection and pollution treatment. The main conclusions are as followings:1. There is long-term Overexploitation of groundwater in some areas, due to the unreasonable Layout of the mining well. Therefore, it should be taken prevention and treatment measures that based on the original re-zoning for protected areas. 2. The contaminated areas of confined water is coincided with the phreatic water contaminated areas, and have obvious correlation with groundwater level droping funnel area.This indicated that pollution has reached to confined water area through. It is suggested that carry out the antifouling ability assessment of unsaturated zone and take measures to manage unsaturated zone pollution.3. Groundwater pollution presents a developing trendency of pollutant diffusion from punctiform,banding to surface, infiltration from shallow layer to deep layer, spreading from city to surrounding in general terms,and pollution components continued increase, the concentration of pollution components continued heighten, the hazards of pollution is increasing.It should be taken preventing measures, such as increase the urban sewage treatment plant, construct water recycling facilities, promote water-saving irrigation technology, rational use of pesticides and fertilizers and implement the total pollutant control system to protect underwater resource in Baotou.4.Based on the present situation of groundwater contamination and pollution analysis results, this paper proposes groundwater contamination countermeasures and measures from technical and management level to improve groundwater environment and guarantees social economy and environmental coordination sustainably developing in Baotou.
