With economic development, the number of global vehicle by 2010 will exceed 1 billion. As a result, the consumption of gasoline and diesel oil increases year by year, and lots of SOx emissions was released in the air. What's worse, SOx can further form into acid rain which has great damage to environment and the health of human beings. Most countries and regions have established strict regulations to reduce sulfur contents in gasoline and diesel oil. The traditional HDS can not meet the need of ultra deep desulfurization because of its limitation. Recent years many new desulfurization methods have been proposed. Oxidative desulfurization is considered to be the most promising one with its mild reaction conditions, fast desulfurization rate, and easy handling equipment.Phosphomolybdic acid is widely used as active catalyst owing to its acid and redox activity. Hosphomolybdate-based ionic liquid is a new type of ionic liquid, which consists of an organic cation and inorganic phosphomolybdic acid group, it combines the advantages of ionic liquids and catalytic activity of phosphomolybdic acid. This thesis was mainly about the synthesis, characterization and catalytic property of [hmim]3P12Mo40. It was composed with two sections. Phosphomolybdate-based ionic liquid and its modified SBA-15 as catalysts for the desulphurization. The first section was about oxidation desulfurization catalyzed by functional ionic liquid [hmim]3P12Mo40. Oxidative desulfurization of dibenzothiophene and other sulfides in ionic liquid for model oil was investigated over molybdophosphate-based ionic liquid [hmim]3PMo12O40. Under the mild conditions, high sulfur removal was obtained for dibenzothiophene (90%) and dialkyl sulfides (100%). The effects of amount of catalyst, reaction temperature, and amount of H2O2 were investigated. The ionic liquid can be recycled 4 times without a significant decrease in activity. The second section was about oxidative desulfurization catalyzed by SBA-15 supported [hmim]3PMo12O40. Under the mild conditions, high sulfur removal was obtained for dibenzothiophene (100%) and dialkyl sulfides (100%). The effects of amount of catalyst, reaction temperature, and amount of H2O2 were investigated. The ionic liquid can be recycled 3 times without a significant decrease in activity.
