With the industrial and technological development, the resolvable pollutants in water such as metal ions and chlorine which effect water quality are increasing an issue. Not only the water quality, but also an efficient pretreatment of industry preprocessing is becoming a key. Nano-KDF is a new and efficient material that purified water after activated carbon and KDF, it can remove the metal io,chlorine and organic pollutants effectively. Nano-KDF has no shortcomings of activated carbon and KDF, it has a wide application in water purification field.The experiment studied of the treatment effect on residual chlorine and heavy metals removal effect in water at the different conditions such as different speeds, different initial concentrations and different thickness of the filter bed and copper,zinc by NMC-III.Experimental results showed that Nano-KDF can remove chlorine from water effectively. At the early stage, the remove rate can be reached above 98%, the removal rate has a tendency of going up with the decrease of filtering velocity,the decrease of initial concentrations and the increase of thickness of the filter bed. But the remove rate cannot reach infinity.It has been found that the concentrations of chromium ion,cadmium ion and lead ion can be reduced to below the required concentration of< the sanitary standard for drinking water>(GB5749-2005:0.01mg/1) by Nano-KDF when the initial concentrations are 5 times more than the required concentration.The results show that the concentrations of copper and zinc will raise slightly but still below the required concentration of< the sanitary standard for drinking water >(GB5749-2005:lmg/1). Otherwise, the concentrations of copper and zinc has nothing about factors such filtering velocity and thickness of the filter bed.Nano-KDF is made up of numerous micro-granular materials, Its specific surface area and porosity are 100 times higher than KDF, its packing density is<1 g/ml. The results show that the removal effect by nano-KDF is 5 to 10 times than the imported KDF55 at the same filtration velocity.
