In recent years, thanks to the fascinating structural and development in several related fields, such as particulary absorption, catalysis, molecular magnetization, the field of coordination polymer research has become one of the most active arenas in coordi-nation chemistry, supramolecular chemistry and crystal engineering. With the aims to construct new coordination polymer,5-hydroxynicotinic acid and 5-bromonicotinic acid are choosed as major ligands with transition metal (lanthanoid) ions leading to eight coordination polymers; and in-situ ligand reaction of 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phena-nthroline is found. The thesis includes five chapers:In chapter 1, the concepts and principles of supramolecular chemistry, crystal engineering and coordination polymer; current progress and research content of the thesis are simply introduced. In chapter 2, two supramolecular structures are obtained by hydrothermal reacti-on of 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline with transition metal ions(Cu2+, Ni2+),9-methyl-1,10-phenanthroline-2-carboxylic and 1,10-phenanthroline-2,9-dicarboxylic are synth-esized by in-situ oxidation of 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline during the reaction. In chapter 3, two dimensional (2D) coordination polymers with different topology are obtained by hydrothermal reaction of 5-bromonicotinic acid with Cu2+and Ni2+, and copper coordination polymer included dinuclear paddle-wheel pattern. In chapter 4, three 3D coordination polymers, [Ln(5-hntaH)(ox)(H2O)2] (Ln= La(1), Pr(2), Nd(3)), are obtained by hydrothermal reaction of La(III) with 5-hydrox-ynicotinic acid and ox2- as second ligand. Magnetic property of 2 and 3 have been investigated. In chapter 5, three 3D coordination polymers with novel structural, [M(â…¡)2(5-hyd-roxynicotinato)2] (M= Mn(1), Fe(2), Cd(3)), are obtained by hydrothermal reaction of transition metal ions with 5-hydroxynicotinic acid. Magnetic property of 1, and the fluorescence at solid of 3 have been investigated.
