As the interaction of TiO2 will affect the rheology of the slurry, the rheology is the response of TiO2 dispersion. Rheology could indicate the dispersion of the TiO2, which is widely used in coating industry. The coatings of the TiO2 and the solution will affect the rheology.This thesis focuses on the correlation between surface coatings of To2 pigment and the rheology of its slurry; analyses the effect of dispersed phase on the rheology of system; and compared the rheology of system with the various level of dispersion of the TiO2 pigment in slurry systems.The difference in the rheological behavior of TiO2 slurry caused by the surface coatings characteristics of the TiO2 pigment and chemistry of the solvent system. The slurries made with the same TiO2 pigment in different dispersed phase will have the different rheology behavior which may relate to the shift of system polarity and acid-base domain. And the theory of pH and pH iep could also explain the difference of rheology. The rheology behavior of the slurry is indeed the response to the level of TiO2 pigment dispersion in system.
