In the context of the continually expanding electrodeposition coatings market in China and increasingly fierce competition, we combined Shanghai Jiangqiao chemical factory mastering in polyamide resin with DingShi chemical factory having authority on electrodeposition coatings to develop a new polyamide resin of consistent quality specially used in cathodic electrodeposition coatings industry.It was confirmed by IR that the best reaction condition was 140±5℃of the first step temperature,2 hours of the first step reaction time,4.5 hours of the temperature rise time and 210℃of the end temperature.Through experiments and research, it was known that the polyamide resins with different reaction conditions (fatty amine, the composition of dimer acids, the amine value of polyamide, etc.) had different effects on properties of the anion resin, of the electrodeposition coatings and of film. The best law materials were triethylenetetramine and dimer acid having 10-14% monomer and 8-14% tripolymer. The polyamide resin produed by the formula and the process ultimately selected had superior performance used in the system of electrodeposition coatings, and had achieved the commercialization.
