To carry along with the rapid development of advanced manufacturing technology development which is represnted by NC machining. Clamping devices becoming more and more improment . Hydraulic clamping device and air clamper were widely utilized in the current Manufacturing Industry Application. However, there are following marked shortcomings in the hydraulic clamping devices and air clampers:(1) Mechanicalenergy which clamping force needs must be transfoermed by mens of many form of energy, so the utilization rate of energy is low and the wastage is very great.(2) The high- speed rotating mechanical drive unit leads to severe noise pollution.(3) Hydraulic clamping devices can't avoid oil leakage in a lots of linkswhich leads to severe ground contamination and air pollution.In order to enhance energy efficiency and reduce the environmental pollution, a new concept design for clamping device is proposed. Clamping device is composed of a temperature controlled micro-displacement driving device, an area effect stroke amplifier and a self-locking bi-bar single-acting toggle force amplifying mechanism. The working principle takes advantage of semiconductor heating/refrigeration converting technology to make thermal sensitive material generate micro-displacement, then the micro-displacement is amplified to around 100 times to become a noticeable displacement by applying the area effect stroke amplifier based on Pascal's principle. The output displacement and force are transmitted on passing critical point self-locking toggle force amplifying mechanism to clamp the workpiece. The new concept clamp device can not only realize zero energy consuming in cutting process but also has the characteristics of simple structure, high energy efficiency, good stabilization, no noise contamination and good self-locking property.The main contents of this thesis are as follows:(1) The logic sort system of driving force using thermal energy is built. This system can help us to know the technology of driving force using energy form roundly and provide theory basis to choose them scientifically.(2) Refrigerating Technology and area effect stroke amplifier which application to clamping devices are summaried and resarched. Correlation technique background for innovation design clamping devices which used different driving energy is given in the future, and privide guiding suggestion when choose the driving force.(3) Low-speed clamping devices usiing heat tube linear expansion technology and drving force using paraffin which based on length and volume effect are resarched. It introduces the work principle of the innovation design clamping devices with the functional diagram.(4) Clamping devices using thermal energy as driving force are researched on a certain extent. The new clamping device takes advantage of semiconductor heating/ refrigeration converting technology to make thermal sensitive material generate micro-displacement, then the micro-displacement becomes a noticeable displacement by applying the area effect stroke amplifier based on Pascal's principle. And the driving force from Self-locking and Force Amplifying Toggle Clamping Device on passing the critical position. The mechanical modeling and calculating formulae are also given.(5) The actuality and trend of Clamping device are summarized in this thesis, and the further research on the technologies of Clamping device is analyzed too.
