With the increasing extension and application of the ASP flooding, the problems that strong base ASP flooding brings out become more and more serious. Due to its unique advantages, weak base ASP flooding becomes to a flooding technology which has more prospect. However, this technology is also obsessed by scaling problems, which to some extent stops it from being extended and applied widely.There are many deep studies on carbonate scaling mechanism in weak base ASP flooding these days, but hardly can we find the mechanism and properties of silicon scaling. This paper then carries on its study about this. First of all, the forming process of silicon scale was studied under different influencing factors from the view of topography, so that a general cognition could be made. Secondly, based on the classical theory of silicic acid polymerization,this paper creatively proposed the forming mechanism of silicon scaling the first time ever. It can be summarized as follows:mono-silicic acid→poly-silicic acid→silicic acid gel→silicon scale.Finally, through studying the characteristic of silicon scaling under various influencing factors (such as pH value, temperature, carbonate scale, surfactant and so on ), this paper came to the conclusion that pH value, temperature and carbonate scale were three main influencing factors, and the influence, from big to small, were: pH value, carbonate scale and temperature. By reacting with high concentrations of carbonate ion in simulated produced liquid, calcium and magnesium affect the forming process of silicon scale.These studies will help people understand the forming process of silicon scale deeply. Through control the main scaling factors actively and effectively, people can carry out scale removal and scale prevention more successfully, which will promote the application and development of weak base ASP flooding.
