In this essay the author firstly introduces the application and development of soft graphite in sealing materials, environmental sorbing materials, battery materials and flame retardant materials. Then based on present research situation that conductive graphite materials are mainly man-made carbon graphite material, the author carries certain research on the thermal conductivity of soft graphite materials.During the experiments, the author systematically researched the influence factors of flexible graphite thermal conducting material which is made of nature flake graphite. Meanwhile, the author explored the influence of those factors as the category of inserting reagent, the amount of inserting or inflation ratio, carbon content in raw material and the density of final products, on the thermal conductivity of flexible graphite. Furthermore, the author found the condition to making high thermal conductivity of flexible graphite materials through investigating influence factors of thermal conductivity of flexible graphite. Thus we can get following results:1) the carbon content of raw material has significant influence on the thermal conductivity of flexible graphite; 2) different kinds of inserting reagent and different inflation ratios of one category of inserting reagent have significant influence on the thermal conductivity of flexible graphite; 3) the density of flexible graphite could not influence its thermal conductivity. What's more, we can furtherly acquire that under the same inflation ratio, the thermal conductivity of flexible graphite by adding into metal chlorides as auxiliary inserting reagent is better than that of common inserting reagent. And when it comes to the three kinds of auxiliary inserting reagent, AlCl3 has better inserting effect than FeCl3 and CuCl2. As to carbon content, the author investigated the difference of thermal conductivity of flexible graphite which has 97%, 98%,99%, and 99.9% of carbon content respectively. The result is that under the same condition, the more the carbon content, the better the thermal conductivity. What's more, when the carbon content is 99.9%, the thermal conductivity of flexible graphite reaches a peak. Therefore, combining influence factors of inserting reagent and carbon content, we can achieve the peak thermal conductivity by employing material with 99.9% of carbon content and AlCl3 as inserting reagent, and under this experimental condition the peak thermal conductivity of flexible graphite is 9.12 W/(m·K).
