To know the properties of coal combustion is the basis for the design of cement precalciner. If the properties of coal combustion are not mastered, the design of cement precalciner is of great blindness.The properties of coal combustion are usually measured by experiment, but the reliability of experimental results depends on the rationality of the test method. The traditional thermal analysis method can't reflect the burning characters in suspension state, because the sample is accumulated. In order to reflect the burn characters of coal in cement precalciner, the test conditions should be simulated with industrial conditions, but it's very difficult to fully simulate. If coal combustion and carbonate decomposition are considered together to pursue real simulation, it is difficult to observe the thermal behavior of single material. Usually, the thermal behaviors of coal combustion and carbonate decomposition are studied separately.To obtain the thermal reaction behavior of powder in suspension, the reaction device for high temperature and suspension state was developed, which can heat powder to a high temperature, maintain stably powder in suspension, relatively really simulate the industry process, and the on-line real-time detection can be carried out. The measurement results are not correlative to the reactor form, but to the material characteristics. In this paper, the experiments were carried out for different conditions, such as coal types, temperature, environment of CO2 concentration, particle size, to discuss their affects on the burn off rate of the bituminous coke and the anthracite coke.The research on the burn dynamic characteristics of Xinmi anthracite coke and Xi'an bituminite coke were made. The relation curve of burn off rate and time under different temperatures were fitted with the known dynamic reaction model curves. The most suitable burning model can be selected by the correlation coefficient. With the help of this method, the dynamic burn model of Xinmi anthracite and Xi'an bituminite were obtained. The experiment data curves and model curves of Xinmi anthracite and Xi'an bituminite were demonstrated and compared to show that they are in good accord and the method to get reaction models is credible. The research results are of important guidance for the design and operation of the cement precalciner.
