NaOH/poly(sodium acrylate) (NaOH/NaPAA) solid base catalysts were prepared by in situ polymerization of acrylic acid with an overneutralization level by adding excess NaOH. Water absorbency, water holding capacity, swelling properties, basic strength and basicity of NaOH/NaPAA catalysts were investigated, and the structure were characterized by infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction(XRD). Catalytic activity of NaOH/ NaPAA for the transesterification of olive oil with methanol was investigated. The results showed that water absorbency of NaOH/NaPAA increases as crosslinking agent amount from 0.08×10-2 to 0.32×10-2, and decreases with futher increase crosslinking agent amount. Water absorbency of NaOH/NaPAA increases as NaOH loading increases from 0 to 7.5mmol·g-1 and decreases with futher increase of NaOH loading. The crosslinking agent amount of 0.32×10-2 and NaOH loading of 7.5mmol·g-1 NaOH/NaPAA gave the best results absorption(193g·g-1) and had a good water rentention, and it presented very low swelling ratio in organic solvents of olive oil, olive oil methyl ester, methanol and Glycerol. The basic strengths and the basicity of NaOH/NaPAA not change increased with crosslinking agent amount. The NaPAA exhibited the basic strengths of 7.2 |
