A-TIG welding is a new and efficient welding method when welding low-carbon steel and stainless steel plate less than 12mm.There is no need to open groove and fill wire. And you can achieve one side welding both sides formation.It is easy to use. Just brushing a thin layer of activating fluxes on the surface and its surrounding to be welded,and then use the TIG welding equipment to weld.Though many customers believe that this product can bring great economic and social benefits,it is difficult for them to use and put into mass production. As in our country and abroad there are no relevant standards,resulting in the use and promotion of the product blocked. In order to accelerate the new technology which is energy-saving,environmental protection, high efficiency,saving raw materials,saving hours of work and improving the general performance of the work-piece,it is the critical moment to make the standard of A-TIG welding method in response to the call of the national development of new industries.Through A-TIG welding experiments and research in different locations and materials of our research group,we first get an initial main parameters of the industry-standard of stainless steel and low-carbon steel A-TIG welding activating fluxes as well as the A-TIG welding works process specification. Then make a draft in accordance with GB/T 1.1-2000 standard and based on the recommendations of a meeting of experts to modify and eventually form the final technical standard. In order to improve the standard, we conduct A-TIG spot welding research and get the optimal welding process parameters through the experiments, followed by a tensile-shear test and hardness test to validate the feasibility of A-TIG spot-welding method, and make a test as well as necessary complement to the standard.The results showed that:parameters such as weld time,weld current and the diameter of tungsten electrode have an effect on the diameter of the spot and the formation of the weld with the equiment used in this article. Increasing welding time or welding current can increases the penetration and the diameter of the welding spot.The two parameters will make the top surface of the welding spot to be concave, even burn off, of which the greatest impact is weld current. The diameter of the welding spot will be smaller as the diameter of tungsten electrode decreases, while the penetration will not increase when the arc becomes centralized.In terms of comprehensive performance, low-carbon steel lap joints are better than stainless steel and strength of dissimilar steel betweens the two steels. Activating fluxes spot welding is a new type of welding,which can welds different materials with different thickness workpieces in certain range.With its good comprehensive performance it can have a broad prospect in spot welding.
