As modern industrial and agricultural development, heavy metals pollution of soils is becoming a serious problem of human. Therefore, it is important to recognize the problem caused by heavy metals pollution and to find methods to solve. To study the patterns of the heavy metals distribution in Jinan city, we collected agricultural soil samples and tested Cd,Cu,Pb,Zn,As,Hg and Cr of them .And the research also evaluated pollution degree of the heavy metal and potential influence on ecological system. At the end, the possible ways of the pollutions were discussed, and the effects of heavy metal pollution to animals and plants were also studied. The results:1. The pH of Jinan's agricultural soils is increasing as the urbanization proceeds. Most are slightly alkaline and neutral. The pH in Licheng, Changqing district of Jinan City and surrounding urban area are higher than that in Pinyin, Shanghe, and Jiyang district of Jinan City.2. The heavy metal content is not uniform around Jinan city. The variation coefficient is less than 40% of Pb,Cu,Zn and more than 60% of other heavy metals. According to difference among the max, mean, and min value, the heavy metal content in Jinan's agricultural soils is, to a certain extent, affected by human.3. From the spatial distribution of heavy metals in agricultural soils, it is found that the level of heavy metal content was higher in Licheng and surrounding urban area, but lower in Shanghe and Jiyang.4. Base on the Nemero Index and the evaluation of potential ecological risk, Jinan's agricultural soils, especially the surrounding urban area, were slightly contaminated because of industrialization and human economical activities. But soils in suburbs were basically not contaminated.5. The primary study of the heavy metals effects to animals and plants were conducted, which is a basis for further research.
