The land desertification is a big problem to world environment, its effect on ecosystem service value is the studied focus between concerned field at home and abroad. By using the method of combining the investigation and remote sensing date, the effect of land desertification on ecosystem service value was studied on three stay, namely, land desertification structural and dynamic studies, effect of land desertification in Chifeng city on ecosystem service value, and the prevention method of land desertification.The results showed that:The ten years between 1994 to 2004, desertified land area reduced 748797.3 hm2, the rate within desertification region is 28.1%. The fixed desertified land increased 5.6%, half-fixed desertification land decreased 47.4%, active desertification land decreased 24.8%, opened desertified land increased 223.7%, and desertified cultivating land decreased 96.7%. The index of land desertification degree decreased 23.2%, the down degree of Hongshan area was most, and there was almost no desertification land. The down degree of Keshiketeng county and Wenniute county was the least.In studied region—Chifeng city, the desertified land could be under control by plant sandbarrier, and the rainfall was enough for the live of thos plants. By comparison, Th mode 3 and mode 2 had the best effect on controlling quicksand, the next was mode 1 and mode 5, and the third was mode 4, mode 7 and mode 10, the last was mode 9, mode 8 and mode 6.Land desertification in Chifeng city made a 79.9241 billion yuan/a decrease of ecosystem service valuce gross. The reducing value of Aohan county, Wenniute county, Balinyou county and Alukeerqin county were high. The reducing rate of Linxi country was biggest. Both reducing value and reducing rate of Hongshan country were the smallest. Reducing value of soil forming and protecting service of ecosystem was the biggest, reducing rate of food production service was the biggest. Both reducing value and reducing rate of amusement were the smallest.
