Coating can improve the surface properties and printing performance of paper, and increase the aesthetic appearance of printed matter. Coating also can increase the base paper smoothness, gloss, whiteness, opacity, etc., prevent the split film role of the ink and enhance the ink absorption of paper. Coated paper can balance and security ink printing ink curing and increase paper gloss. Many factors affects on the gloss of coated paper, such as coating base paper, coating composition, coating and the calendar. With淀粉,胶乳,分散剂, CMS-Na for the four kinds of additive factors, minitab software is used to study the effects of different factors on the impact of gloss coated paper. DOE is used to analyze the main impact factors and their interactions of coated paper gloss.1. Pigment particle size and shape affect the gloss of coated paper, In the gloss, Clay > PCC > C95 > C65. To increase the ratio of fine particle size calcium carbonate can improve the gloss coated paper.2. Starch and dispersant which are the most significant factors of affecting the gloss of coating paper are selected by DOE. We can get the mathematical model: y=-2.2725×starch-99.35×dispersant+19.3×starch×dispersant+58.54623. With the increasing of the amount of latex, the viscosity of paint is in the upward trend; coated paper whiteness, strength and surface roughness increases; gloss, printing gloss, opacity reduction. ).In this study, styrene-butadiene latex in the coating formulations is determined the amount of 16% (of total pigments).4. starch can replace part of the latex, to improve the opacity of coated paper and K&N and the improvement of the ink absorbent of coated paper, but the roughness of coated paper will increase, leading whiteness, printing surface strength, gloss and print gloss to decrease, coating rheology variation. But the increase in the amount of starch can reduce the production cost of coated paper. latex and starch are in the best ratio of 14:2.
