ZL205A alloy is a kind of traditional high strength-toughness cast aluminum alloy, have very good strength, plastic, toughness and resistance to corrosion, so widely used in the aerospace field. However, the poor performance of casting, application of materials limited material, which has the attracted extensive attention. As the casting properties of common ZL205A alloy is relatively worse and cannot meet the need of use of some important parts, the application of common ZL205A alloy is limited. So it has been a proposition of material researchers that how to improve the mechanical properties of common ZL205A alloy.The paper has passed the orthogonal text, and ascertained the optimum purification process to the alloy ZL205A. The C2Cl6 added measures 0.7%, the temperature of the aluminium liquid is 730℃, and the stewing time is 8 mins. The paper focuses on the fluidity, body Shrinkage and tendency of hot cracking of ZL205A alloy. Through the contrast experiment with ZL702A alloy, analyzes the casting property of ZL205A alloy. By changing the component and the pouring temperature, it analyses how these factors influence on the performance of the alloy castings. It has passed the orthogonal text, and ascertained the optimum heat treatment process to the alloy ZL205A. The solution temperature is chosen 540℃, the solution time is chosen 20h, and the aging temperature is chosen 180℃, the aging time is chosen 3h.The influence of the mechanical property and the tendency of hot cracking of ZL205A bas been investigated passing the orthogonal text.Small amount of La and Ce exists in the form of Al 4 Ce, Al 3 La phases in the alloy. The rare earth elements interact with Al,Cu and Mn forming Al8CuCe,Al24Cu3Ce3Mn and Al8Cu4La intermetallics instand of Al 4 Ce and Al 3La phases, when superfluous rare earth elements exists in the aluminum. These intermetallics make the alloy comprehensive properties dropped drastically. The results obtained show that an addition of rare earth elements will 1ower to some extent quasi-solidus temperature,widen quasi-liquid region and narrow quasi-solid region.Rare earths enhance the strength around solidus and the rate of strength increase of the alloy.Moreover, they are able to decrease the tendency of hot cracking.This paper aims to discusses their casting performance variation rules and influence mechanism by changing the alloy component,the pouring temperature and the pouring process factors,to improve the foundation of the casting properties of alloy ZL205A.
