Dendrimers have many unique features compared with the traditional polymers: the precise molecular structure, the rich superficial functional group, the high geometry symmetry and the intermolecular cavity, the member itself has a nanometer size, and so on. Therefore they also has the characteristic which many linear polymers do not have: good hydromechanics performance, unique viscosity behavior, multi-purpose and good solubility. Although time of researches in dendrimer is short, but a breakthrough research progress has been made in frontier in chemical and material field, such as surfactant, catalyst carrier, nanophase materials, gene therapy, etc. It is attracting more and more scientists of passion. PAMAM is an earlier studied dendrimer, and study in it is more deeply. In recent years, people paid more and more attention on the research of PAMAM branch shape polymer's functionalization.This article embarks from the synthesis of 0.5~4.0 G PAMAM branch shape polymer by divergent method, then the influencing factors of reaction (such as material matching, reaction temperature and reaction time) are discussed, and also some properties are tested. Then the superficial grouping -NH2 full generation PAMAM is modified by MA, MPEG1000 Methacrylate and DMC according to the application request, and also some properties of the plomers are tested. The properties of this kind of dendrimer as demulsifier for the simulated O/W crude oil emulsion have been investigated emphatically. The result shows that PAMAM-NH2 behaves well demulsification, although it has little surface activity. The three type modified dendrimer all have property of demulsification, AM-PAMAM behaves best in all products in this article. The demulsification of dendrimers for the O/W emulsion is closely connected with the generation, temperature and time of demulsification. The research of this article has provided the foundation to exploit a series of demulsifier with new-style chemical structure.
