In this thesis, the cooperativity between coal and heavy oil in the co-processing of different heavy oils including LGAR, Du-84, GDVR, DQVR and LHVR and two different coals including Shenhua bitumite and Neimeng lignite was investigated. The effects of preswelling with N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF) and the catalysis with the traditional supported ferric catalyst and the preswelling supported ferric catalyst with DMF were discussed in this work. Using anthracene as a chemical probe, the hydrogenation in the co-processing system and the hydrogen-donating property of different heavy oils were revealed. The effects of preswelling, the traditional ferric catalyst and the preswelling ferric catalyst on the hydrogenation of anthracene were discussed. The reason of the matching between coal and heavy oil in co-processing was revealed. The study of matching between coal and heavy oil in co-processing indicated that: the five heavy oils and two coals showed different cooperativity and flexibility in co-processing of coal and oil. The preswelling with DMF could improve the liquefaction in the co-processing. The co-processing systems with LGAR or Du-84 showed a substanstial improvement effect among all of the preswelling systems with DMF.The catalysis of the traditional ferric catalyst displayed good liquefaction reactivity in the co-processing. However, comparing the traditional ferric catalyst, the preswelling ferric catalyst showed the better liquefaction and promoted the more liquefaction yield up to 88%in the system of Du-84 and Neimeng lignite.。Using anthracene as a chemical probe, it is shown that the hydrogen-donating property was not the key reason of high liquefaction in the co-processing of coal and heavy oil and heavy oil with good hydrogen-donating property didn't play well as a good solvent when coprocessed with coal. Compared with the reaction under nitrogen, hydrogen in the gas could improve hydrogenation of anthracene in the heavy oils, which is helpful for the hydrogen transferring from hydrogen gas to poly aromatics in this process. Preswelling of coal with DMF increased hydrogenation of anthracene in the co-processing, which could inhibit the condensation reaction of coal, and then reduce coke formation in the system. Compared with the traditional ferric catalyst, not only the swelling ferric catalyst with DMF could make the more hydrogenation yield of anthracene in the system, but also achieve a deep hydrogenation product of octahydroanthracene from the chemical probe anthracene in the reaction system. It is shown that the swelling ferric catalyst could display a better hydrogenation ability and promote the liquefaction reactivity in the co-processing system.
