Based on the research work for coal liquefaction with wash oil (WO), the lighted washoil (CLWO) produced by cavitation was used as the swelling agent and hydrogen-donorsolvent. The direct liquefaction of coal from Wucaiwan, Zhundong, was carried out toinvestigate the effect of the general and microwave swelling of CLWO on conversion and oilyield, respectively.First,the pretreatment of natural swelling with raw coal was investigated. CLWO asswelling agent and hydrogen-donor solvent, the influence of temperature, time and the ratio ofCLWO and raw coal on the swelling degree were investigate by orthogonal experiment.Results showed that the maximum swelling degree Q=1.609with the condition of S/C=5:1,T=60℃, T=11h.Then the effect of initial hydrogen pressure, temperature and solvent ratio on naturalswelling of coal liquefaction were studied at t=60min with Fe2O3/S as catalysts. The resultsshowed that the suitable liquefaction conditions was P0=8.0MPa,T=430℃,S/C=2:1. Oil yieldreached65.28%, increased9.88%compared with raw coal, conversion reached76.68%, assimilar as that of raw coal.Finally, the pretreatment of microwave swelling with raw coal was investigated. CLWOas swelling agent and hydrogen-donor solvent, and on the basis of conditions S/C=5:1, T=60℃, T=11h in natural swelling before microwave swelling, the effect of microwave powerand microwave time on swelling degree were investigated by single factor method. ThenL16(45) orthogonal table was chosen to discuss the influence of temperature, hydrogenpressure and the ratio of solvent to coal on the microwave swollen coal direct liquefaction.The results showed that the maximum swelling degree Q=1.354at the condition ofmicrowave power P=800W, microwave time t=15min, and the suitable conditions ofliquefaction were that P0=8MPa, S/C=1.75, T=440℃.Oil yield oil was79.88%and conversion reached86.52%, compared with raw coal increase nearly24%and10%,respectively.According to the solubility parameter analysis, it found that quinoline in CLWO playedan important role in the performance of coal swelling. CLWO from Bagang was fit for coalswelling better than that from Xinlian. In general, CLWO had a certain ability forhydrogen-donating, so it is suitable as swelling agent and hydrogen donor for Wucaiwan coalliquefaction.
