Electrostatic precipitator as one of the main equipment which control air pollution, it solves the contradiction between environmental protection and economic development, and its application technology has been developing rapidly. At present, the ESP has been used in thermal power, steel, nonferrous metallurgy, chemical industry, building materials, machinery, electronics and other industries. However, as the pollutant emission standards are stringent increasingly; we need to study of the electrical characteristics of ESP more in-depth and detailed to improve collection efficiency. The establishment of mathematical models and numerical analysis about ESP space is an important theoretical approach to study the electrical characteristics of ESP. In this paper, numerical analysis is used to set up mathematical model of electric field and flow field which are about line plate dust space. Electric field and flow field characteristics are simulated and analyzed through MATLAB and FEMLAB.First of all, the analysis of electric field: finite difference method is used to derive the electric field differential equations and boundary conditions about the electric field of line plate dust space base on the Poisson's equation and current continuity equations which control electric field distribution, a mathematical model about the electric field of line plate dust space is established. The program is compiled and ran using of MATLAB to obtain and analyze the simulation results. Then a variety of factors (includes the measurement experiment of current density distribution) which impact the electrical characteristics of electric field are analyzed.Second, as there is fluid motion in dust space, we must consider the movement of charged particles on the basis of numerical analysis about electric field. According to the average time Reynolds equation, we get basic differential equations about the movement of charged fluid in dust space after the force analysis about charged particles in the charged fluid.Finally, the single-phase charged air flow is simulated and analyzed when the volume fraction of solid particles phaseαpclose to 0.
