When carries various chemical modifications on double helical molecular of optically active, we can always gain derivatives which have specific properties. Based on a large number of resourcs investigation, we found the optically avtive compounds which synthesized by binaphthalene have outstanding properties in liquid crystalline and sensing materials.On the base of our laboratory was described, and a series of new type of optically active double helical derivatives were designed and synthesized. to observe its unique performance in the areas of liquid crystal materials, looking forward to discovering certain peculiar qualities and functions. The study is carried out not only to enrich the content of synthetic chemistry and the difficulty of synthesis this kind of compound, but also because of their potential applications in new functional materials.In this paper, optically active 2 and 2'-positions of 1,1'-bina-phthalene was used as synthetic template for the synthesis of double helical molecular (R,P)-23. The synthesis of the compounds of (R,P)-23 was described in the chapter II. It is synthesized by Williamson ether synthesis reaction and so on.In the third chapter, the azobenzene liquid crystal unit 26 and the biphenyl liquid crystal unit 32 were designed and synthesized respectively. And in the process of synthetic routes involved reaction of several types:like the reaction of diazotization, Williamson ether reaction and the Suzuki reaction.The fourth chapter of this thesis describe the synthesis of target the compounds (R,P)-35 and (R,P)-36. We have synthesized the target compounds by coupling the double helical molecular (R,P)-23 which synthesized in chapter II with the azobenzene liquid crystal units 26 and biphenyl liquid crystal units 32 which synthesized in the chapter III. In the process of synthetic routes involved reaction of Sonogashira coupling reaction, we controlled the condition of the reaction to make the yield reach the maximum.All the intermediates and target compounds synthesized in this paper were characterized by IR,1H NMR,13C NMR and DEPT.
