With the rapid development of automotive industry, more and more lightweight materials like aluminum alloy are used to manufacture structural components. But aluminum alloy sheet has poor formability, so wrinkling and crack are easy to occur during the drawing processing. Nowadays how to improve the formability becomes one of most important and popular problems. Variable blank-holder force (BHF) technique, as a simple and effective technical method, studied by more and more researchers. But how to deal with the relation of drawing factors, and then get the reasonable variable BHF quickly and exactly. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) technology is a possible study method for the forecasting of variable BHF.In the text, based on numerical simulation, the effect of variable blank-holder forces on the formability of 5A02 aluminum alloy sheet was investigated, which change with the deep drawing time and the position of the blank holder. The results indicate that the∧-shaped blank-holder force can distinctly improve the formability of aluminum alloy sheet, but the time when the BHF value achieves the max has a reasonable range. For the VBHF changing with position, the departmental BHF is determined by the flowing rate into the die and the deformation degree of metal.Afterwards recurred to RBF ANN model, the forecasting of variable BHF during drawing process of aluminum alloy rectangular part was investigated, and then we testified the model. The results indicate that perfect BHF curve can be obtained through this net model.
