With the increased awareness of environmental protection,In particular agreat deal of countries` environmental laws and regulations on volatile organic compound (VOC) content of the coating systems has been limited strictly,and promotes the clean paint`s development, represented by the water-based paint coatings. At present, the varieties of water-based coating`s market have pure acrylic emulsion paint, waterborne alkyd coatings, styrene-acrylic emulsion paint, styrene- butadiene rubber latex, polyurethane dispersion coatings and so on . As the styrene-acrylic emulsion paint has many good performances and lower price, and now has become one of the fastest growing coating species.this parper prepared core-shell styrene-acrylic emulsion and used to prepare water-based wood paint.The key findings are: By choicing the styrene-acrylic emulsion process and optomizing monomer composition, prepared core-shell styrene-acrylic emulsion, discussed the choice of soft and hard monomers, yin and non-ionic emulsifier`s proportion and amounts,the amount of functional monomer and its amount on the emulsion properties,and studied the formation of styrene-acrylic emulsion film with the performance impact.
