Coal seam excavation in certain areas brings about displacement and deformation of surrounding rock. Researching the movement of stope surrounding rock and fault activity can contribute to recognize the surrounding rock movement and the activity law of stope fault caused by coal seam excavation. It also can provide evidence for revealing mine water bursting mechanism and doing well the work of water control.This article uses the method of the combination of theoretical research, numerical simulation, similar material simulation and field measurement to study the movement of stope surrounding rock and fault activity. Firstly, analyse the deformation and failure rule of coal seam overlying strata and the space distribution form, which are simulated by using RFPA and FLAC-3D software. Summarize the roof movement rule and the stress state for Coal Seams. Secondly, analyse failure patterns of floor for mining coal seam and the changes of stress state. Adopt numerical simulation method to get the changes of floor displacement and the stress state distribution and then obtain the developing depth of floor mining destructed water conducted zone.Lastly, study the fault damaged mechanical condition. Use numerical simulatiion method to analyse the excavation of different fall and different direction of dip for coal seams nearby the fault and then obtain the changes of stress state after the fault moving. It can contribute to provide the basis for determining the size of fault protecting coal pillar reasonably.
