The body of gear pump is an important component of pump, which mechanical properties, precision of shape and size are important factors of gear pump to achieve high-pressure, high reliability. So manufacture of gear pump is a very important topic. Because of aluminum alloy material's merits, such as light weight, high strength, easy processing and so on, aluminum alloy pump has been widely used in recent years. At present, many companies have begun to use aluminum alloy as pump billet.Semi-solid metal forming technology has the advantages of compact microstructure, better mechanical properties, high production efficiency, long die life, and little mechanical machining, etc. So this technology has broad application prospect in the manufacturing field. Semi-solid extrusion forming technology is used in this paper, instead of cast iron using aluminum alloy to manufacture pump body.Through Pro/E software to establish the three-dimensional geometry model of gear pump body in this paper, and select A356 aluminum alloy as the material, and use Deform-3D finite element analysis software to simulate the semi-solid forming process of gear pump. The adaptation rheology model is selected based on the analysis and comparison of existing rheology model of semi-solid metal in this paper. Use multiple linear regression method to establish rheology model of A356 aluminum alloy. Through the simulation of the forming process, obtain the flow velocity field, effective stress field, effective strain field, pressure-stroke curve etc. Then get flow situation of the billet during the forming process through a brief analysis of the simulation results. By comparing forming processes of different simulation parameters, obtain different technics parameters effect on the forming process. That is preparation to optimize parameters of semi-solid extrusion pump.The gear pump body semi-solid forming process is investigated in this paper that provides theory basis and technics parameters for the manufacture,and provids an effective way to manufacture the pump body efficiently and economically. The establishment of material constitutive model and simulation analysis will provide a reference for simulation and production of the same type complex parts.
