Utilization of traditional synthesis provides 4 metal-organic coordination compounds that have not been reported before. These compounds are characterized by elemental analyses, IR, TG and X-ray diffraction analysis. The four compounds are synthesized by 2-propyl-4,5-imidazoledicarboxylic acid (H3pimdc) and transition metal anions:H2[Cd(Hpimdc)2(H2O)2]·4H2O (1), H4[Zn(Hpimdc)2(H2O)2]2·7H2O (2)和H2[M(Hpimdc)2](M=Cu(3) or Ni(4))。Compounds 1 and 2 have the similar net-work structures. They both exhibit 3D supramolecular structures through hydrogen bonds. Compounds 3 and 4 are of the same structures. The transition metal ions coordinate to Hpimdc2" with different coordination modes, which result a 2D layer structure. Furthermore, two adjacent 2D layers are connected together by intermolecular hydrogen bonds, which results in a 3D supramolecular architecture.
