In this dissertation, the recent progress on the study of poly(aryl ether ketone)s, and poly(ether sulfone)s were investigated. The main contents were described as follows:1.9,9-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)xanthene which is a new biphenol monomer containing xanthene structure was prepared from xanthenone with sulfur oxychloride, followed by substitution reaction with phenol in 85% yield.9,9-bis(3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)xanthene and 9,9-bis(3,5-bimethyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)xanthene were respectively prepared through similar reactions based on o-cresol and 2,6-dimethyl phenol.And the yields were 78% and 75%,respectively.2.In the presence of K2CO3/tetramethylene sulfone as catalyst/solvent complex system under N2 atmosphere, three series of poly(aryl ether ketone)s containing xanthene structures in main chain were prepared by high temperature solution polycondensation respectively from 9,9-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)xanthene(BHPX), 1,4-di(4-fluorobenzoyl)benzene and bisphenol A(BPA);9,9-bis(3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)xanthene, 1,4-di(4-fluorobenzoyl)benzene and bisphenol A; 9,9-bis(3,5-bimethyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)xanthene,1,4-di(4-fluorobenzoyl)benzen e and bisphenol A.The copolymers were characterized by FT-IR, DSC, TGA and WAXD, etc. The results showed that the copolymers have relatively high glass transition temperatures in the range of 180~257℃,decomposition temperatures at 5% weight loss were up to 410℃.The inherent viscosities ranged from 0.47 to 1.64 are all amorphous and readily soluble in common organic solvents such as N-methyl-pyrrolidone (NMP), N, N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc), THF and CHCl3 at room temperature. Transparent, flexible, and tough films of these polymers cast from their solutions exhibited tensile strengths ranging from 48 to 75 MPa, Young's moduli from 1.54 to 2.70 Gpa, and elongations at break from 7 to 13%.3.A series novel poly(aryl ether ketone)s containing xanthene structures in main chain were prepared by high temperature solution polycondensation from 9,9-bis(3-methy-4-hydroxyphenyl)xanthene and 9,9-bis(3,5-bimethyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)xanthene respectively with 4,4'-difluorobenzophenone, 1,4-di(4-fluorobenzoyl)benzene, 1,3-bis(4-fluorobenzoyl)benzene,4,4'-bis(4-fluorobenzoyl)biphenyl and 4,4'-bis(4-fluorobenzoyl)diphenyl ether in the presence of K2CO3/tetramethylene sulfone as catalyst/solvent complex system under N2 atmosphere. The results showed that the copolymers have relatively high glass transition temperatures in the range of 194~276℃,decomposition temperatures at 5% weight loss were up to 400℃.The inherent viscosities ranged from 0.47 to 1.32 are all amorphous and readily soluble in common organic solvents such as pyridine, N, N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc), THF and CHCl3 at room temperature.Transparent, flexible, and tough films of these polymers cast from their solutions exhibited tensile strengths ranging from 58 to 63 MPa, Young's moduli from 2.02 to 2.27 Gpa, and elongations at break from 7 to 9%.4.In the presence of K2CO3/tetramethylene sulfone as catalyst/solvent complex system under N2 atmosphere, two series of poly(ether sulfone)s containing xanthene structures in main chain were prepared by high temperature solution polycondensation from 9,9-bis(3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)xanthene,4,4'-dichlorodiphenylsulfone (DCDPS) and p-dihydroxybenzene; 9,9-bis(3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)xanthene, 1,4-di(4-fluorobenzoyl)benzene and bisphenol S, respectively. The copolymers were characterized by FT-IR, DSC,TGA and WAXD, etc. The results showed that the copolymers have relatively high glass transition temperatures in the range of 207~259℃,decomposition temperatures at 5% weight loss were up to 450℃.The inherent viscosities ranged from 0.50 to 1.53 are all amorphous and readily soluble in common organic solvents such as N-methyl-pyrrolidone (NMP), N, N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) and CHCl3 at room temperature.Transparent, flexible, and tough films of these polymers cast from their solutions exhibited tensile strengths ranging from 41 to 53 MPa, Young's moduli from 2.29 to 2.46 Gpa, and elongations at break from 7 to 9%.
