With the development of science and technology, Because of Kaolin unique crystal structure and appropriate particle size, plasticity,electric insulativity, chemical stability and other superior properties,which is used to reinforce filling materials in rubber industry,especially in rubber sole industry,it can replaced parts of expensive silica.In every polymer materials, there should be corresponding modification reagents and process for kaolin which are used to reinforce filling materials.So far,we have not find out corresponding modification process,mixing and curing process in Butadiene Rubber for kaolin,it is also ascribed to the disadvantage of BR,for example it is hard to process.But many researchers still pay attention to BR, because there are many advantages of BR,for axample, excellent abrasion resistance, cold-resistant, cold-resistant and so on.This dissertation focuses on the modification of Beihai kaolin.At frist,through the prevaluationtest of modified kaolin,it can determine the better modification process,then through the comparative studies of vulcanization formulation,choose the best one.Thirdly,optimizing the modification reagents and process by means of the mechanical property of composites. At last,researching the curing conditions to confirm the best loadings of modified kaolin,the curing temperature and curing time of rubber.Experimental studies show that the best modified condition as follows:the best quantity of ZQ-1 is 1%,the best quantity of ZQ-3 is 1%,the best quantity of ZQ-5 is 1%,and the quantity of diluent of ZQ-1 is 2.5%, the quantity of diluent of ZQ-5 is 3%, the processing temperature and processing time is 90℃and 20min respectively.The best curing process as follows:the best loadings of modified kaolin is 100 phr,and the curing temperature and curing time of rubber is 140℃and 22min respectively.The mechanical properties of the composites which are filled with modified fine grade kaolin can reach the different degrees of industry standards of rubber soles(HG/T 3082-1999),besides, it is better than the mechanical properties of composite filled with the modified silica obviously,so it could replace parts or all of silica as a filler in BR.Through using FT-IR,SEM,TG-DSC etc, study on modified kaolin and composite,theoretically explains how to reinforce BR for modified kaolin.The study of FT-IR indicates that the surface property of kaolin changes from oleophobic and hydrophil to oleophylic and hydrophobic,so by modification kaolin can disperse and fuse in rubber matrix well. Furthermore, The study of SEM proves that results above. The TG-DSC of composite shows that the BR filled with modified kaolin have more better thermostability.
