Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin is one of the five general-purpose resin, With a wide variety of sources of raw materials, cheap, wear, excellent electrical insulation properties, corrosion resistance and mechanical strength advantages. However, the processing temperature and decomposition temperature of PVC is very close, and then the thermal decomposition occurs in the process. The diallyl phthalate (DAOP) as a reactive plasticizer of PVC to improve the processing of PVC.To improve brittleness and optimize interface of glass-fiber/PVC composites, reinforcing and toughening technologies for glass-fiber/PVC composites were studied. Influences of glass-fiber and diallyl orthophthalate(DAOP) resin on their mechanical properties were observed. Diallyl orthophthalate(DAOP) resin was blended with PVC in various weight ratios by melt compounding. The compatibility between diallyl orthophthalate(DAOP) resin and PVC resin was analysed by measuring the impact toughness, tensile strength and bending strength. The results clarified that each mechanical properties improved, in addition to,SEM images show that the interface of glass-fiber/PVC composites added with DAOP was much closer, PVC resin surrounds completely the glass-fiber.For the initiator of diallyl phthalate (DAOP), taking into account the molding temperature (160℃~190℃) of thermoplastic resin. The studies of DAOP/DCP curing system have shown that, DCP can trigger the free radical polymerization of DAOP monomer in the range of 150℃~180℃, and the dosage of initiator at 3% and the curing temperature at 160℃is appropriate. The DSC method is used to determin the curing process and curing kinetic parameters of DAOP/DCP (3%) system.Because of the low viscosity of DAOP, a certain amount of DAOP monomer was added into intractable thermoplastic resin such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to improve its processability. All the intractable thermoplastic resins have high processing temperature, so the curing degree and curing behavior of DAOP monomer are very important in the process-cycle of intractable thermoplastic resin, for that may influence the processability of material and product performance.
