Parts processed in cold extrusion molding method have a high precision and strength, good quality on the surface, little or no cutting. Cold extrusion processing is the base of the mould design. From the craft to the product, it needs many different cold extrusion forming steps to complete. Reasonable designing cold extrusion processes is the core in the whole work. The design of process is very hard. With the rapid development of computer technology, particularly CAPP (Computer Aided Process Planning) technology, it gradually applies to cold extrusion process planning.Take this background as starting point; the article proposed that applies the database Technology on the VB 6.0 platform to enhance the passed cold extrusion CAPP system. The main results are as follows:1) Established the 5 major function modules of the system. It contains materials information management module, equipment information management module, process information management module and mold information management module, and established linkages between these modules.2) Establishing parts database of materials information database, equipment information database, process information database and mold information database carries out data management, maintenance, inquiring and summary.3) It designs different cold extrusion process under different constraints. These constraints are according to the actual production conditions, so it can support the actual production.4) Design a BP neural network prediction module to predict of formed part. It supplies valid data for optimization of parameters.To sum up, this system is developed under the VB 6.0 platform, The system plans the cold extrusion process based on cold extrusion processing theory. It proposed a processing design in actual production constraints, combined with database technology and knowledge of the signatures. At the same time, it constitutes the forecast module, can forecast the maximum stress and strain of parts, providing support for the verification and optimize of the process. It uses the object oriented technology, has better extension and application.
