China's rapidly growing foreign trade scale is depending on a large amount of energy and input of environmental resources continuously. Such extensive development model has not merely consumed the limited domestic natural resources, and makes our country under tremendous pressure on the issue of carbon emissions in the international negotiation. But under the background of the economic globalization, the consumption of energy and the emission of greenhouse gas should be investigated in a more overall range, and there should be a clearer understanding in the flow direction of the embodied carbon included in the foreign trade goods. It will be helpful to arrange the Greenhouse gas emissions right more rationally and equilibrate economic development and environmental pressure, trade interests and social welfare in the process of economic globalization. This paper calculates the amount of embodied carbon in import and export commodities of each industry in the year of 2002,2005, and 2007 based on Input-Output Analysis. The result reveals that the embodied carbon included in the foreign trade goods is growing fast both in import and export during this period, and the emission of embodied carbon concentrated on several industries relatively.Based on the above estimates, we use the Structural Decomposition Analysis which from the efficiency effect, technological effect, scale effect and structural effect to research the reasons of the increasing emission of embodied carbon in foreign trade. According to our results, the efficiency effect of utilization of energy of our country is improving constantly, but because of the influence of scale effect, the emission of embodied carbon increased constantly in our country. In the end, the paper proposes some policy suggestions, such as optimizing the structure of trade, adopting the clean production mechanism, improving the entry system of the foreign investments, insisting on the "Going Out" strategy etc..
