With the increasing of municipal solid waste(MSW) landfill volume in our country,environ-mental problem caused by landfill gas(LFG) will be more serious.The landfill site in Tianshui City is currently the largest built in Gansu Province.Its scale is 250 million tons and its landfill height of 40 meter above.Though the conditions of LFG utilization very close to specifications,the landfill gas utilization facility is not built.According to the actual situation of this landfill site,LFG collection and utilization project should be studied and designed.With this project,the harm to environment from LFG can be reduced and the Methane in LFG can be recycling.lt should be solved as soon as possible.This paper studies LFG collection and utilization project in Tianshui landfill site.The mechanism of LFG production,composition and migration is introuduced.Through comparison of mathematical model of a variety of LFG and theory calcuiation with Sholl conyon model, the LFG production in 20 years(2010~2029) is estimated.The LFG production in 20 years is 2879.924×105m3 and the peak is 235.243×105m3 in 2019.The LFG collection project which is constituted by tracheal level set and active vertical extraction well is designed.According to the principle of equilateral triangle,34 vertical extraction wells is established in the edge of the reservoir area with 25m spacing and 40 vertical extraction wells is established in the central reservoir with 50m spacing.According to the LFG gas production rate and actual situation of Tianshui City,the LFG utilization project is designed.From 2012 to 2029,it is designed to generate electricity using LFG for 18 years.According to the LFG gas production rate,4 power sets are installed in 2012 and the power set well be installed year by year. Arriveing at the peak in 2019,there are 11 power sets.From 2012 to 2029,the amount of methane is 972.718×105m3.The total generating capacity is 1.556×108kWh.The power output is 7142.04 million yuan.Through the use of LFG can not only reduce environmental pollution,but also turning waste into wealth.This project is feasible not only in the economic and social benefits,but also in the environmental benefits.
