In recent years, green chemistry has become a hot topic of chemistry. Combined with electrochemical method, the bio-enzyme catalytic organic reactions possess high economic efficiency, little consumption of enzymes and environment friendly etc., which has met the requirements of the green chemistry. In this article, we firstly chose hemoglobin (Hb) as our research object. The immobilization method of Hb at a glassy carbon electrode (GC) as well as its electrochemical behavior of the Hb-modified electrode was discussed using cyclic voltammetry (CV). Then, using previously accumulated experiment technologies, we applied the immobilization method to the fixing of CPO onto GC, and systematically discussed the electrochemical behaviors of the CPO-modified electrode. Finally, the fabricated CPO-modified electrode was employed for the catalytic oxidation for toluene and thioanisole, which in turn provides valuable experiences for the enzyme catalyze organic reactions.1. Study on the performance of Hb-modified electrodeWith the aid of the cationic surfactant DDAB, Hb was fixed onto the glassy carbon electrode and thus the direct electron transfer between Hb and the electrode surface was achieved. Experimental results indicate that the constructed electrode herein was proven to be easy to prepare, stable and have excellent catalytic ability for the reduction of oxygen.2. Study on the performance of CPO-modified electrodeThe immobilized method for CPO was undertaken in the same way as that for Hb. Electrochemical results for CPO-modified electrodes indicated that the direct electron transfer between CPO and the modified electrode also occurs, which is an adsorption – controlled process. Moreover, the obvious catalytic behavior toward the reduction of oxygen was also observed at CPO-modified electrodes.3. Catalytic oxidation of toluene and thioanisole at CPO-modified electrodeWe investigated the role of the CPO modified electrode played in the catalytical oxidation of toluene and thioanisole using the constant potential electrolysis method. GC-MS analysis results show that the CPO modified electrode constructed in this experiment could catalyze the oxidations of toluene and thioanisole to benzaldehyde and methyl-phenylsulfoxide, respectively. These results also lay a solid foundation for the enzyme green catalysis organic reactions to some extent.
